   My Dear Vi,

  just a few lines to 

let you know that I am quite 

well, & also to that I received the

cigaretts & papers today quite

safe. I am very pleased indeed 

with them, well dear I hvae

not got much news to tell you

as I have not been out to sea

for over a week now. the weather

is very rough up this way & it 

gets very cold of a night now. I 

suppose the weather is not 

the winter is coming on

well dear I had some 

cigarette from Walter, & also

a letter. & I also had a letter from

old Bess, & she said that she

goes to see the wounded Belgians

every day, well dear I must 

now close hopeing you will 

forgive me for these few lines

but I have got to go on watch

now. hopeing you are well at 

37 Marler
