The King--as Hard a Worker as any Man in his Kingdom

Photograph of King George V wearing a military uniform at a desk covered with boxes, papers, writing implements, and a candle, reading. Wicker basket and stand with electrical cord nearby. Rug on floor. Fabric walls or coverings partially rolled up.

Photograph by Abrahams                                                                                                          Exclusive to THE BYSTANDER

Altogether outside his visits to the Fleet, to the Army in the field, to the industrial war-works scattered all over the country, the King has the innumerable ordinary affairs

of State to transact. In the summer he does this less showy but equally important part of his work in a tent in the gardens of Buckingham Palace ; and our photograph

shows him engaged upon it
